Our firm has a long and enviable track record of successes that go back to 1915. That's when Albert Livingstone founded a general legal practice in Johannesburg. In 1970, Michael Crichton succeeded the founder as senior partner. Under his direction, the firm relocated from central Johannesburg to the vibrant new hub of South African commerce, the Sandton CBD.
We have always sought to contribute to positive change in our rapidly transforming society. Notably, the firm was involved for the defendants - including former President Nelson Mandela - in the high-profile 1956 Treason Trial. In addition, we are involved with many claims on behalf of community-based legal assistance organisations. What is more, we actively recruit and promote talented professionals from all sectors of the South African population, with particular emphasis on previously disadvantaged groups.
Today the firm, which has experienced controlled but significant growth, offers a wide range of general and specialised, professional services. Our client base ranges from individuals and market leaders to listed companies.
We strive to meet the specific needs of our clients and stake our reputation on the delivery of personal service by dedicated professionals. At the same time, we keep ourselves constantly aware of fast-breaking developments in the ever-changing worlds of technology and commerce.
It remains our avowed intention to develop and retain a team of competent and dynamic lawyers who render professional services of the highest quality and who are truly representative of a changing South Africa.
