Anthony Crichton, a highly qualified and experienced professional, who after graduating from the University of the Witwatersrand with B.A. and LL.B. degrees, was admitted as an attorney in 1986 and a notary and conveyancer in 1992. Anthony, who joined the firm as a professional assistant in 1986 after serving articles with Damant, Bostock & Company in Johannesburg, became a partner in A. Livingstone & Company, subsequently Livingstone Crichton, in March 1987. His specialities include matrimonial and family law as well as property law and conveyancing. His area of expertise also extends to deceased estate administration, trusts, will and estate planning, contract negotiating and drafting, and commercial litigation in High and Magistrates' Courts. In addition, as a Notary Public, Anthony handles the firm's notarial work. Anthony was admitted as a solicitor in England and Wales in 2005.


Lee Astfalck is qualified as both a South African attorney (1999) and as an English solicitor (2004). Lee completed his articles with the firm in 1999 and worked in London for several years with a global commercial insurer. Lee returned to South Africa and rejoined the firm in 2005, and was made a partner in January 2007.
Lee continues to apply his expertise in the field of insurance for the benefit of local insurance companies, underwriting management agencies, brokers and international Lloyd’s of London syndicates. He advises extensively on claims handling and policy coverage advice in the areas of professional indemnity, directors and officers, electronic and computer crime, fidelity and financial institutions, bankers blanket bond, public liability and medical malpractice.
He has drafted and prepared a variety of policy wordings and provided general commercial and risk management advice to insurance companies including opinions on the regulatory and legislative environment of the insurance industry, with recent advice on the new Consumer Protection Act No 68 of 2008 and the new Companies Act No 71 of 2008.
In addition to his insurance work, Lee also advises extensively on commercial and corporate matters and disputes, including High Court Litigation, and he advises clients on a wide range of general commercial and corporate agreements.
Within his general commercial area, Lee has also developed particular expertise pertaining to the Information Technology and the Telecommunications Sectors and he has and continues to advise on a wide range of IT agreements.
In addition, Lee is also a member of and legal adviser to the Franchise Association of South Africa (FASA) and advises both franchisors and franchisees on franchise agreements, competition and consumer law pertaining to the franchising industry and franchise – related disputes.

Kate McCreadie graduated from the University of the Witwatersrand with B.A., L.LB (both with distinction). Thereafter she delayed her articles for a year in which time she studied towards and completed her Post Diploma in Business Management (PDM) at Wits Business School during which she did an internship at Dimension Data focusing on Risk Management.
Having been awarded her PDM in she embarked on her legal career with a strong academic basis and knowledge of business and the business environment. Since then she has complete her article with the firm, gaining a variety of experience in most of the firms major practice areas. In 2009 Kate was admitted as an attorney and now works as an associate for the firm. She has since obtained a further qualification in competition law.
Kates practice areas include matrimonial and family law, estate planning and administration, commercial law and general litigation in both the High Court and Magistrate’s Court. In these areas Kate has given advice and had success in matters involving The Hague Convention, defended and undefended divorces and custody disputes, maintenance and domestic violence disputes, labour relations disputes and general advice, commercial and contractual litigation and property and lease related matters.

Rudi Pottas is a LLB graduate from Rand Afrikaans University, now commonly known as University of Johannesburg. Rudi joined Stuart Harris Attorneys in 2006 where he completed his articles and stayed with the firm as a senior associate. Rudi obtained his right of appearance in the High Court of South Africa in October 2009 which enables him to appear in the Supreme Court in motion proceedings and trials. Rudi joined Livingstone Crichton in January 2010 and has vast experience in Criminal law, General High Court Litigation, Magistrate’s Court Litigation and Family law. In 2007, Rudi was instrumental in, what was to be considered, the first paternity fraud case in South Africa.

Kate de Ruig completed a Bachelor of
Laws (LLB) at the University of Johannesburg in 2007.
Thereafter she completed her articles with the firm, gaining
a variety of experience in most of the firms major practice
areas. In 2011 Kate was admitted as an attorney and now
works as a Professional Assistant for the firm. She has
since completed a course in Fundamentals of Banking and
Risk Management.
Kate’s practice areas include commercial and corporate matters and disputes, general litigation in the High Court and Magistrate’s Court, insurance matters, wills and estate planning, franchising, and research and compliance-related advice on both on the New Companies Act and Consumer Protection Act.
